Labor Encouragement/Cervical Ripening-Avoided Induction
"Starting at week 36, Kendra told me we could begin cervical ripening treatments that would help me go into labor naturally when it was time, as well as ease my labor. The evening after the first of these treatments, I could tell my belly dropped and I began to feel lots of downward pressure. After the second treatment I lost my mucus plug! During the third treatment I started experiencing strong contractions and my obgyn confirmed I was 3 cm dialated. When it got close enough to my due date, Kendra delivered a stronger induction treatment (she explained we couldn't do this too early without preparing first for the induction) and I went into labor that evening -- the day before they planned a chemical induction and 8 days before my due date. I was so happy to avoid a medical induction! The best part is that my blood pressure stayed normal through the labor and I was only in active labor for five minutes with no difficulty.
