My name is Kendra Lay and I am a graduate student studying acupuncture, traditional herbal medicine, bodywork therapy, and nutrition.  The purpose of this website is to share what I am learning about becoming and staying healthy with natural medicine.  Feel free to explore the site  and please contact me if you have any questions or comments.

About Me

1I have a passion for health and I was introduced to natural medicine at a young age by my mother.  I have used acupuncture, herbs, homeopathy, massage, and chiropractic my entire life to stay healthy.  My first love is nutrition, and  I began educating myself about healthy cooking several years ago when I became aware that food allergens and other elements of my diet were making me ill.  I soon realized that learning how to stay healthy was a passion of mine that I wanted to share with others.  I chose to study Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine because of the opportunity to learn many different modalities to bring people back to health.  I envision a future practice where I will combine acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition and lifestyle coaching to assist people in achieving a healthy and satisfying life.

When I am not in class I enjoying cooking, developing new recipes, being outdoors, reading, working out, and hiking.  I hold a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Humanities from the University of West Florida.  Before studying Oriental Medicine I was an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer and a fundraising professional for Friends of the Children, a mentoring organization for at-risk youth in the Portland, Oregon metro area.  I began my graduate studies in Oriental Medicine at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and I am now studying at the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin.
